where i am

things going on
took a plane that was cancelled
arrived two hours late
said hello to a new dog
forgot my camera
went for a walk
went to church
went to school
and still no camera
to freeze frame the moments passing me by
it means i have to live another day
to capture them again
but the moss will not be green
the summer sun will shine no longer
there will be icicles dangling from the trees
i sat next to a demon
found the signs of violence past
smell the earth
watch the familiar horizon
see faces grown older
like mine

resisting the howling sirens. it's hard. they seem to turn up the volume every time i return.
